Taiwan activist Li Ming-che’s wife stopped from flying to China to visit husband: rights groups

TAIPEI (Reuters) – The wife of Taiwan activist Li Ming-che, sentenced to five years in prison by Chinese authorities for subverting state power, was stopped from flying from Taiwan to China on Tuesday to visit him in prison, rights groups said.

Turkey orders detention of 11 top doctors over criticism of Syrian offensive

Rocky start for Syria talks in Russia as some delegates refuse to leave airport

SOCHI, Russia (Reuters) – A Syrian peace conference in Russia got off to a rocky start on Tuesday after some delegates opposed to President Bashar al-Assad refused to leave the airport on arrival, saying they were offended by the presence of the Syrian state’s flag and emblem.
