On 23rd November 1992, in Franklin, Tennessee, U. S., Leticia Jean Finley and Billy Ray Cyrus welcomed their daughter Destiny Hope Cyrus into this world. Her parents believed that she would accomplish great things, and that is why they named her Destiny Hope. Because of her smiles as an infant, they also gave her a nickname Smiley, which they later shortened to Miley. In 2008, she changed her name to Miley Ray Cyrus. Her godmother is an American famous country singer Dolly Parton. Cyrus has two siblings: a brother Braison, and a sister Noah. She also has three step-siblings: two of her mother’s children from her previous relationship, Brandi and Trace; and her father’s child, Christopher Cody.

Cyrus’ debut acting role was portraying a girl named Kylie in her father’s television series Doc. In 2003, she played Young Ruthie in Tim Burton’s Big Fish. At the age of seven, Cyrus auditioned for the role of Hannah Montana’s best friend, but she was called to audition for the lead role instead. Her singing and acting abilities helped her get the role despite being too young and small for it. The series was very popular and Cyrus was labeled as a teen idol. The Walt Disney Company released the soundtrack for the series, which was a commercial success. This led to Cyrus signed a four-album recording contract with Hollywood Records.
